Alhamdullilah, PDAM successfully secured a meeting with Encik Muhammad Kamil bin Abdul Munim, the Prime Minister’s political secretary in the Ministry of Finance, to present their concerns regarding the
Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) and targeted subsidy implementation. They highlighted two main issues: the reduction in commission due to cost increases and the potential for evaporation and MDR costs to wipe out their commission with price float implementation. PDAM emphasized that these issues could lead to the collapse of the fuel retail industry.
Encik Muhammad Kamil understood the issues and invited Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, the Secretary General of Treasury, to join the meeting. After further discussion, PDAM believes that the MOF now understands our issues and will consider PDAM’s proposals to ensure the survival of the fuel retail industry.
